Cambodia Gambling Dens
July 25th, 2017 at 20:25There is an appealing history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den wagering is against the law. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are apparently required to pass, there are means around this, as is true of most border crossings.
The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau casino, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that contains many amenities on top of the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
